10.11 Festival
November 4-15 2026
One shared history, scattered across countless small fragments. This is what memory of communism looks like nearly 37 years after the end of the regime. It is passed on through personal and family stories, historical narratives and political changes, through nostalgia and the traumas that remain long after an era has ended.
The absence of a museum dedicated to communism in Bulgaria leaves these stories without a shared space. They emerge in different places and forms - in exhibitions, theatre and film, in books and public conversations, in workshops and old-time recipes and tours across Sofia and the country. Each offers a different fragment of the period and of the ways in which our society remembers and understands this past.
The second edition of 10.11 Festival brings together these different faces of communism. The programme brings history and art, personal memories and research, different generations and perspectives into conversation. We look at the years of the regime, the decades that followed, and the ways in which all of this continues to shape our lives today.
